Basharat Hossain is currently working as an Associate professor (economics) at the Department of Business Administration, International Islamic University Chittagong, Bangladesh. He obtained his Bachelor of social science (Honors), Master of social science and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in economics from the department of economics, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Throughout his education, he achieved outstanding grades and scholarships at all education levels. He has a unique focus on national economic issues and has published about twenty articles in national newspapers and magazines. His research interests include applied Micro and macroeconomics, public and monetary economics, development economics, economies of third world countries, and Islamic economics and finance. More than sixteen of his research articles have been published in internationally reputed academic journals including SCOPUS and Web of Science Indexed journals. He has also participated and presented papers in seven international conferences. Also, he has attended in many national seminars and training Programs.
